The Serendipidades Concept
What is Serendipidade then?
Yes, you may think it was a typo... Not so :) "Serendipidade" is the Portuguese (what we Speak in Brazil) word for "serendipity." It means an unplanned, fortunate discovery or finding something good unexpectedly. The term was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754.
The Platform Model
The idea is to have a non-transactional platform model that does not rely solely on user contexts. We encourage meaningful connections for the ones that have something to share and/or time to listen (with the intention of learning and growing).
We begin simply, by asking:
- Welcome - but who are you?
- What can you offer? (Skills, experiences, wisdom)
- What are you curious about? (Your goals, your dreams)
- Is there a challenge you're facing right now? (Sometimes just sharing it starts the solution)
Our platform principles:
- Start online, grow offline - unless travel or life circumstances require otherwise.
- Safety by design - we cross check information to make sure everything remains safe for everyone.
- Transparency first - we are open and transparent about data usage. We are not just aiming to be GDPR complaint, we are building it as part of the design.
- Built on collaboration and open-source values - just as it should always be.
- Contributions are welcome - based on what you can offer, not what you can pay. If you feel called to lead, you can also become a Tamer and help others find their way
